The new Chilmington Green Secondary School in Ashford, Kent, has been delivered in partnership with the Department for Education, main contractor Bowmer + Kirkland, and architect Stride Treglown. Innovaré provided the offsite structure using their i-FAST panels, while Benx supplied Swisspearl fibre cement cladding panels for the upper levels of the façade.
This landmark project houses 1,140 pupils and includes state-of-the-art facilities such as nine science labs, a library, creative and performing arts spaces, and a sports hall.
The Challenge
The Department for Education required a façade solution that would:
- Integrate seamlessly with an offsite-manufactured structure.
- Support the project’s Net Zero Carbon in operation target and BREEAM Excellent rating.
- Provide a robust, low-maintenance exterior finish.
- Achieve a contemporary design aesthetic suited to a modern learning environment.
The Benx Solution
Benx supplied Swisspearl fibre cement panels to complement the Stofix UK brickslip system used at ground floor level. Swisspearl was chosen for its:
