The Benx Group of companies – a leading manufacturer and supplier of specialist building materials, supplying innovative products, systems, and services to the building facades sector – is seeking to appoint an Technical Design Manager – Rainscreen Systems to join our Benx Technical Services department based in Staffordshire.

Working to the defined values of the Benx Group – Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence. As a member of the Benx Technical Services team, this role is primarily to deliver the key responsibilities as discussed within this job specification. In addition, playing a full and active role with the Benx innovation process and to establish and maintain key customer relationships with both internal and external customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Efficient management of the technical functions in relation to agreed product range and support to projects.
  • Be the gatekeeper for all elements of facade design and technical support of rainscreen projects.
  • Set and maintain examples of technical customer focus and promote best practise across the teams at all opportunities, whilst keeping a proactive focus on risk management (day to day and project level) to meet both customer and business needs.
  • Engage with customer, RSM & Directors to identify areas for continual improvement and commerciality needs.
  • Take a 360 approach to management of product range and ongoing improvements.
  • Create road map (Action log) to work towards with wider stake holders with associated timescales.
  • Development and continual improvement of key documentation for support of technical sales support activities.
  • Product updates and regular communications, training events, etc (knowledge development).
  • Create performance driven documentation to support Technical Officer and Project / Sales lead activities.
  • Inhouse Specifications, System summaries, Competitor analysis, etc
  • Support with design meetings, etc for major projects or key customers as and when needed.
  • Main source of all technical performance and validation of standards which feed into the technical team and wider business with existing product range (Facades / Rainscreen/EWI/ render)
  • Be the main technical support to TAs on major or significant projects where required (within field of specialism)
  • Support & sign off to technical Officers in production of project & product documentation at key stages of project life and final sign off where relevant!
  • Company product industry expert and support on area of specialism within the technical group (ambassador)
  • Responsible for all enquires and maintenance of BBA / KIWA contracts.
  • To support/investigate with wider department ongoing product development and system costs, whilst maintaining required performance standards.
  • Management of external sources of technical information NBS Plus, etc
  • Key responsibility for upkeep and maintaining company and industry standards to ensure the group is abreast of all relevant regulatory standards.
  • Ongoing maintenance of product documentation database and communications to wider business.
  • Support to marketing activities and website development, CPD material, product literature.
  • Represent business at trade bodies and industry technical committees!
  • Supplier engagement in-conjunction with procurement and to develop knowledge development and continual product improvement.
  • To facilitate and enable the development, improvement of the current and future product and system range.
  • Manage all resources, to ensure timely delivery of departmental and business goals.
  • Maintain compliance and accurate test records for products, at all times.
  • To attend and manage the technical team meetings where appropriate.
  • To provide representation as required.
  • To innovate & deliver technical support to both internal and external customers in an accurate timely manner.

Post holder may also be required to undertake other related duties not listed in this Job Description from time to time according to the needs of the business.

 Experience/knowledge required: 

  • Management experience.
  • Very good understanding of external façade and cladding systems.
  • Commercial and contractual aware
  • Can project manage effectively.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of CAD AutoCAD, Rivet, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project.
  • Structured problem evaluation & solving experience.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team or on own initiative.
  • High interpersonal skills to work across boundaries.
  • Able to maintain clear focus under pressure.
  • Knowledge of business and markets.

 

Qualifications and Core skills:

    • Knowledge of building process, mechanics, performance, and standards.
