The Benx Group of companies – a leading manufacturer and supplier of specialist building materials, supplying innovative products, systems, and services to the building facades sector – is seeking to appoint a Technical Officer to join our Benx Technical Services department based in Stoke.

The main purpose of this role is to:

  • To provide accurate & timely technical support to both external and internal customer across the full portfolio of products, systems, and services for (but not limited to) SPSE, SPSF and RCM.
  • To provide technical communication at all levels and mediums including face to face in a professional manner.
  • Professional and non-judgmentally question and interrogate the technical requests to provide best outcome for the project and customer, whilst managing any technical risk to the business.
  • To keep abreast of any market legislation developments to ensure compliance of systems and associated technical support.
  • Present the range of products and technical solutions of systems where needed based via technical ticket system.
  • Be the authority on the technical merits of the material/system range (area product specialism TBA).
  • Coordinate project with ongoing technical support to facilitate key stages of a project development (significant projects / key customers).

Key responsibilities include:

  • To take customer questions via phone calls and e-mails, communicate the solutions, populate CRM,
  • providing industry leading solutions.
  • Communicate potential leads and project development to external customer facing teams.
  • Undertake U-value calculations.
  • To provide design through CAD service
  • Liaise with and manage project requirements with relevant CAD technician on larger projects.
  • Undertake and deliver accurate specifications that reflect the needs of the project and Benx accreditation.
  • Proving design calculations (wind loading) and ensure compliance and appropriateness to systems and relevant project.
  • Complete façade calculations.
  • Wind loading & thermal analysis calculations.
  • To support technical development of the customer facing teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with inter-departments for best outcome of a project and the business.
  • Assist in day to day running of the department.
  • Support external technical site team, with reports and investigation works as and when required.
  • Support to Senior technical team in upkeeping of KIWA & BBA Accreditation and relevant Quality Documents
  • Assist in web and literature development and accuracy.
  • To recommend service improvements.
  • Engauge in testing activities were requested by Senior technical management team.
  • Support innovation function.
  • Manage document control.
  • Arrange and liaise for samples to be dispatched as required.
  • Assist in requests for CGI images by gathering suitable data and digital images for processing through Photoshop software of existing properties overlaying the image with a render finish for clients.
  • Work alongside the BDM team completing PQQ tenders to meet the submission deadlines.
  • Deal with technical queries from visiting trade counter customers.
  • Assist in the maintaining of the ISO audit folders for the technical content.
  • Arrange fixing pull out tests for clients gathering relative data and submitting the relative supplier form as a formal request.
  • Assist in updating COSHH & Technical product data sheets adding new ones with all new products introduced.

Post holder may also be required to undertake other related duties not listed in this Job Description from time to time according to the needs of the business.

 

Experience/knowledge required:

  • Construction knowledge and or understanding of building products and systems (one area of the following)
    • External Wall Insulation Systems (EWI & ETICS)
    • Rainscreen Facades
    • Building Boards
  • Very good IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills (telephone and interpersonal)
  • Customer service skills
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet service need.
  • Logical & problem-solving mindset.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

 

Qualifications and Core skills:

  • Educated to HNC/HND or Degree Level all within a construction related area.
  • Technical:
  • IT literacy – Microsoft/Word/Excel/CAD/Rive
  • Understanding of building practices
  • Understanding and Interpretation of Architectural drawings/specifications.
  • Non-Technical:
  • Administration
  • Attention to detail.
  • Customer and people skills
  • Communication skills
