Challenge:
The Aurora Apartments were one of several ‘high priority buildings in Scotland to be included in the Government’s pilot programme on cladding remediation through the Single Building Assessment (SBA).
Solution:
Remove and replace existing cladding and material build-up with a specified fire rated non-combustible product to meet the new fire regulations.
Benefits:
Enhanced Fire Safety
Y-Wall, A1 non-combustible cement board was applied to the steel frame. The BBA certified product achieves the highest A1 fire-rating, ensuring enhanced fire safety.
Versatile Cladding Fixing System
The Allface Carrier System was fitted back to the steel frame using high quality brackets and support rails. This system is compatible with all common facade finishes, making it easy for the team to install the stunning Rockpanel facade in striking blue.
Aesthetically Pleasing Façade
Sustainable and environmentally friendly materials from Rockpanel created a striking and stunning facade that’s low maintenance, durable and provides exceptional weather resistance.
Results:
Fire Safety: Achieved highest Euroclass A1 rating, significantly improving fire safety.
Energy Efficiency: Improved thermal performance leading to potential cost savings.
Aesthetics: Enhanced building appearance with durable and visually appealing finishes.
Happy Residents: The first fully funded residential high-rise block of flats in Scotland to have its cladding replaced.
The project, which commenced in 2018, concluded successfully with positive feedback from residents and stakeholders, highlighting the quality of workmanship and effective communication.
