Greenwich Peninsula is a unique and eclectic development by Knight Dragon in the centre of South East London, consisting of 140 homes. Known as plot 116, this development, designed by architects, DSDHA, was awarded to Kier with the render package contracted to Middlesex Facades.
The client required, as standard, a thermally efficient solution (achieving a U-Value of 0.20 W/m2K) for the development at Greenwich Peninsula and a creative design to set the building apart from the high-rise, cloned blocks surrounding it.
The appearance of the build was required to be of a classical upmarket style utilising concrete panelised cladding with trims and a sandstone colour render.
Completed in September 2016, Middlesex Facades utilised 3,000m2 of SPSenvirowall’s TS Rail system with 120mm EPS insulation to the PPC metal trims of the build and dressed a striking detail into the insulated render ashlar cuts to create a band feature consisting of an ashlar groove.
Creatively, the installer used the decorative trim and etched into the groove to accentuate the band around the building making it a unique feature.
SPSenvirowall met the challenge of detailing the trim which was of the correct sandstone colour to achieve an attractive overhang on the render, accentuating the trim on the ashlar groove and give the building its iconic appearance.
The build-friendly TS Rail system is perfectly suited for buildings under 18 meters or up to 3 storeys high whilst the silicone render is fit for purpose, delivering excellent weather performance and ensuring the building’s appearance will stay cleaner and brighter for longer.
Now a hive of activity, the Greenwich Peninsula, plot M0116, provides an elegant, light and unique appearance to the new emerging neighbourhood of London.
