The Housing Innovation & Construction Skills Academy (HICSA) Case Study

The Housing Innovation & Construction Skills Academy (HICSA) is a pioneering training facility that will position Sunderland at the forefront of the North East’s housing industry.

The development of this academy is all about ensuring young people have the skills that will power the economy of tomorrow.

Due to open in 2025, the £20m state of the art construction academy will support the development of scores of eco-friendly homes planned for the Sheepfolds neighbourhood of Riverside Sunderland area.

This project has been developed through a collaborative effort over the past four years and we’re excited to be involved.

Benefits:

  1. As a highly adaptive cladding fixing system, Allface aluminium brackets and support rails are fitted vertically to the building structure, allowing airflow from the bottom to the top and out behind the cladding panels, resulting in a dry substructure which pushes any moisture out and adds to the insulation of the building.
  1. A Swisspearl facade is cost-efficient and an extremely economical building envelope which retains its value. Not only are they very energy efficient but also virtually maintenance free. Available in a whole host of colours, there’s plenty of opportunity to add character to any building.
