Manor Park Case Study

Manor Park is a new build development of 53 homes, located on the northern edge of Ashford in Kent. Persimmon Homes constructed the site, which is made up of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom houses.

RCM supplied 216 planks of 190mm wide Supertech Weatherboard in a stained Light Oak finish. Plastestrip end and starter profiles (Plasticlad) were also supplied colour matched. Supertech Weatherboard proved to be the perfect choice as it has the beautiful look of natural wood without the need for costly maintenance. Ashford lies on the River Great Sour at the South Edge of the North Downs in Kent, the ‘Garden of England’. Less than 60 miles away from central London and just over 15 miles from Folkestone, Ashford is a bustling market town with plenty to offer. Ashford itself is renowned for its pioneering spirit and the town’s Green Corridor is a great example of this. It’s a green space that runs right through the town and is a haven for people and wildlife. The Green Corridor is made up of parks, woodland, recreation grounds and other green spaces alongside the Great Stour and East Stour rivers that flow through Ashford. Well-used for walking and cycling the Local Nature Reserve is a breath of fresh air for Ashford’s residents and visitors.

Located on the northern edge of Ashford in Kent, Manor Park is a collection of just 53 new homes in the popular Repton Park area. There is a wide range of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom house styles. The development is close to open countryside and the coast. Set in these beautiful surroundings, Manor Park has been constructed by Persimmon Homes. The new buildings bear a very modern look by marrying brick with a timber look, which has become a very popular design feature on buildings. Surprisingly though, the ‘timber’ cladding is not all it seems. Instead of real timber, RCM supplied its Supertech Weatherboard to the build. Supertech is particularly suitable for this kind of environment as it is resistant to rot, fungus and insect attacks and has high levels of weather resistance.

Something which cannot easily be said of natural wood. RCM’s light oak stained Supertech was used to give some of the buildings an enhanced individual look, covering the front storage area, as well as the window infill panels. The planks are simple to install and are a fully ventilated rainscreen cladding system, which has an appearance similar to that of traditional timber cladding but with the durability and strength of cellulose fibre cement. A single facet autoclaved cellulose fibre reinforced cement plank, Supertech Weatherboard is lightweight, requires little maintenance and can be used in the same way as wood, which allows you to create truly stunning façades.
