SPSenvirowall’s Wall System 2 Transforms Decommissioned Block in Long Eaton

The Project

Decommissioned and boarded up for several years, Romorantin Place, a derelict block of 29 bedsits in Long Eaton has been given a complete overhaul, refurbished by East Midlands Housing Group for the enjoyment of its tenants.

The Objective

Erewash Borough Council gave the go-ahead for the refurbishment of the block of flats in 2017. Works included the renewal of kitchens, bathrooms, electrics and the overhaul of grounds and gardens. Expert insulation installers, Westville, were appointed to carry out the external refurbishment works and renovate the flats utilising SPSenvirowall’s highquality external wall insulation system and render.

The System

Carried out throughout 2018, Westville successfully installed SPSenvirowall’s Wall System 2 with 130-180mm mineral wool insulation and an eclectic mix of 1.5mm EnviroSil colours from beige through to red delivering a dramatic and welcome appearance to the local area.

Designed to provide cost-effective robust external wall insulation, the Wall System 2 range is ideally suited for the refurbishment of social housing, providing cost savings to the client and protects the fabric of the building. It enables us to provide tailor-made solutions within affordable budgets, extending the life of buildings way beyond their original design expectations without the need for unjustifiably expensive re-builds.

The EnviroSil silicone topcoat utilised gives a smooth rendered finish providing the customer with a more aesthetically pleasing dwelling while also helping the building’s façade maintain its cleanliness through its outstanding self-cleaning and highly water repellent silicone properties.

The Benefits

Residents now have a more comfortable living environment with improved thermal performance and in turn, reducing their fuel/energy bills. The newly refurbished buildings are a welcome improvement to the original brick buildings, leaving tenants delighted.
