Celebrating Our Team: Dean Bamsey’s Journey from Apprentice to Management Accountant

At Benx, we understand the importance of creating opportunities for the youth of today and providing them with the skills and knowledge to build successful careers. Over the last several years, we’ve taken on numerous apprentices and supported them in different areas across the group, helping to shape the future of our business and industry.

One such success story is that of Dean Bamsey, a past apprentice who has gone on to achieve great things at Benx. Dean is a shining example and role model for current apprentices, showcasing the potential and growth that come from hard work and dedication.

Dean joined Benx in 2018 as an Accounting Apprentice. Like many young people, he was unsure of his career path after completing his AS levels. Through Newcastle College, Dean discovered the opportunity at Benx. After two successful interviews, he embarked on a Level 3/4, three-year apprenticeship.

Throughout his apprenticeship, Dean covered all areas of accounting, building a comprehensive portfolio that demonstrated his skills and abilities. This portfolio was crucial for his final interview with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), where he discussed what he had learned and showcased his work.

Upon completing his apprenticeship, Dean’s dedication and talent were recognised as he was taken on by Benx as an Assistant Accountant. He then enrolled in the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) course, and he is now one year into this four-year qualification. In 2022, Dean’s hard work and passion for learning earned him a promotion to Management Accountant, further proving his commitment to his profession.

Outside of work, Dean enjoys socialising with friends and plays cricket for a team in Audley. He is a huge football fan, avidly supporting his local team, Stoke City, and he also follows Formula One racing.

We’re extremely proud of how far Dean has come, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow personally and professionally in his role as Management Accountant. His journey exemplifies the value of apprenticeships and the incredible opportunities they provide for young talent to thrive.
