Cladcolour Q&A: Inside the Launch
After months in development, we’re delighted to finally be unveiling Cladcolour – a range of façade panels that prove safety and durability don’t have to come at the expense of striking building design. Read on as we caught up with Paul Winwood, our Business Development Director to find out more about the launch…
Q) Can you introduce us to Cladcolour?
Of course! Cladcolour is our brand-new range of high-performance decorative exterior façade panels that , bring stunning designs to life. It’s split into two different sub-collections, Cladcolour MP and Cladcolour HD, which are both crafted from tough and reliable materials (fibre cement and Calcium Silicate).
Cladcolour ticks a lot of boxes, which is partly what makes this launch so exciting! It’s available in a range of finishes, colours and effects, including smooth and grained textures, and the freedom to select bespoke colours.. And behind the beauty? Real substance, with an A1 fire rating, durability that lasts and inherent stability, whether you’re working with masonry or framed structures.
Q) What are the reasons behind its development?
For us, the focus was on providing a façade panel solution that delivered on all areas. Extensive colour options are brilliant fun and really open the door to unlimited aesthetic design. However, we wanted to bring a product to the table that offered comprehensive design options and an excellent fire safety rating and a product that is finished right here in the UK.
It was about bringing everything together in one product.
Q) How does it aim to satisfy the current challenges faced by architects and specifiers?
We know from speaking to customers that architects and specifiers are being pulled in a lot of different directions. They are juggling tighter budgets, stricter regulations, demanding client briefs and the ever-present expectation to design something breathtaking. It’s a tough brief… and exactly the kind of challenge that Cladcolour was created to tackle head on.
With an A1 fire rating, KIWA Agrément and 15-year product guarantee, Cladcolour helps to meet the ever-evolving fire safety regulations for high-rise buildings, expected environmental credentials and long-term performance. We’re proud to have successfully balanced these essential criteria, all while simultaneously delivering on design.
Q) Why is colour such an important consideration?
Within the setting of today’s built environment, construction projects are becoming larger, more complex and more ambitious. Whether it’s a new university campus, healthcare building, luxury hotel or high-rise residential development, cladding panels are often a means of ‘window dressing’ the property – providing the perfect finishing look.
With this in mind, the ability to create a custom aesthetic befitting of the building’s function, context and feel is essential. Used correctly, colour can really help to create a sense of place and identity – and it’s important that architects have the right products in their toolkit to achieve this.
Available in a wide range of finishes, colours and effects, the world truly is your oyster with Cladcolour.
Q) Aside from colour, what do you think is the main USP of Cladcolour?
While the extensive colour options are certainly an exciting benefit of Cladcolour, it’s not the main headline. For me, I think the key selling point of Cladcolour is our unique processing method. While all panels are still cut from a ‘master sheet’, the majority are pre-cut to a project’s bespoke requirements before being colour coated and sealed. This means that we can significantly reduce the amount of panel that is unnecessarily thrown away during production.
The fact that we finish and coat the products here in the UK (Newcastle-under-Lyme to be precise) is another bonus, helping to set us apart from our competitors. It might sound simple but it’s a real game changer, providing us with greater control over the supply chain and meaning we can offer you quicker lead times – it’s a win win!
