Ex MOD homes gain new a lease of life thanks to the installation of SPSenvirowall’s Wall System 2, a high-performance and cost-effective thermal insulation system, finished with enhanced cleansing external render, FlexiSil.
Declared as surplus to requirements in 2017, the properties in Whitehill and Bordon were formally handed back to developers in 2019. Having been empty for over four years, they were left to suffer from vandalism and general neglect.
SPSenvirowall’s Wall System 2 was specified for the refurbishment of more than 200 properties, with its installation being carried out by a specialist cladding sub-contractor. Designed to provide a cost-effective and robust external wall insulation system, Wall System 2 is ideal for the refurbishment of social housing.
Utilising 70mm grey EPS, the direct fix to masonry system delivers a 0.29 W/m²K u-value, enhancing the thermal efficiency of the properties. The refreshed façade was achieved using a variety of FlexiSil colours.
An assortment of grey shades with green, brown and violet tints placed side by side are complementary to the new development at the centre of the site and in keeping with the surrounding modernised area. The contemporary and smooth render finish replaces the tired and worn look of the existing façade and dramatically improves the aesthetics of the properties.
FlexiSil’s acrylic base with silicone enhanced additives gives it the flexibility and extensive colour choice of acrylic with the water repellency and enhanced cleansing properties of silicone which offers the best all-round solution. The retrofit of these properties will breathe new life into Whitehill and Bordon, allowing families to move into warm, comfortable homes and create a new community.
